ktvu tea cara lui is live in san jose. you talked to some parents about what happened. >> reporter: that's right. parents and students arriving here on campus in the last 30, 40 minutes ago tell us they did hear about the incident. some of them got a phone call at home. others got an e-mail from the principal. police tell us a girl, a student here, rornlted being approached by a gunman on campus right after classes let out wednesday afternoon. the man demanded an electronic device she had. a male sturnt saw her getting robbed and tried to help. investigators say he turned around and pistol-whipped. he's in the hospital but is expected to recover. the girl is not hurt. we found one parent out here passing out fliers asking others to take action. she's upset after hearing administrators to tell kids get off campus to have their kids pick them up at a store nearby. >> i'm enraged. i'm very upset. i'm thankful it was not my son. but i think there was a reason for me to be one of the very last parents to pick up my children. >>
